Third WCRP International Conference on Reanalysis (28 January - 1 February 2008)
The World Climate Research Programme (WCRP) Third International Conference on Reanalysis was held in Tokyo, Japan from 28 January to 1 February 2008, jointly hosted by Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA), Central Research Institute of Electric Power Industry (CRIEPI) and the University of Tokyo. The Conference was also supported by the Group on Earth Observations (GEO) and Global Climate Observing System (GCOS).
The Conference, attended by 260 participants from 21 countries worldwide, focused on the following aspects with 61 oral presentations, including 16 invited presentations, and 73 posters.
- Introduction of reanalyses
- Applications using reanalysis data
- Comparison and validation of characteristics of each reanalysis
- Data assimilation technique for reanalysis
- Strategy and international cooperation for future reanalysis
At the end of the Conference, all the participants adopted the Conference Statement appealing the importance and benefit of reanalysis data and relevant projects.
